The Process
To promote familiarity and community across regional and institutional
lines, much of Province Days was spent in small group table discussions.
Participants were grouped according to geographic region. Philadelphians
convened, as did North Carolinians and West Virginians. For other
sessions, the groups reflected institutional type. That is, people
representing institutions of higher learning communed, as did those
representing parishes, retreat centers, and secondary schools.
Meeting in regional groups allowed attendees to step out of their
individual institutions and interact with those who work at other
Jesuit institutions in their particular regions. The institutional
groups afforded participants the opportunity to converse with peers
who are working to achieve the same mission in other regions of
the Province. Ideas were exchanged, networks were expanded, and
support was offered during these sessions.
