God our Father, give us today and everyday,
Ears open to hear your word
Minds ready to accept your truth
Wills prompt to accept your challenges
And above all, hearts ready to answer to your love.
We make our prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord
- Contemporary Jesuit Prayer
Welcome to the official Web site of the Maryland Province Society
of Jesus. Whether you are looking for a link to one of our many
institutions or if you want to spend some time learning about the
interesting people or places in the province, I know our Web site
can help.
Effective communication is an essential component of sharing the
Jesuit mission and philosophy. Such communication takes place on
numerous levels using a variety of mediums. The web site is just
one way we strive to communicate with our colleagues and friends.
As we worked on redesigning our Web site, we wanted to make sure
its contents addressed the needs of our many constituents from Jesuits
to lay colleagues to donors to prospective priests. The goals of
our new site include the following:
- To put forth the priorities of the Province,
- To provide relevant information about the Maryland Province,
- to provide a useful service such as online registration forms
for events,
- To create an interactive atmosphere,
- To provide important resources in the form of links to Jesuit
and other Catholic organizations,
- To communicate effectively with all levels of the Province,
- To provide tools for evangelization and theological literacy,
The Maryland Province is a vibrant region that stretches from Camden,
N.J. to Mooresville, N.C. It is home to such prestigious Jesuit
institutions as Georgetown University, Hopeworks 'N Camden,
St. Joseph's University, St. Therese Church in North Carolina,
Loyola College in Baltimore and many more. The Maryland Province
also has a wealth of social justice efforts underway that can be
found on this website and which illustrate one of the basic tenets
of Ignatian spirituality which is "service of faith in the
promotion of justice."
I believe that a Web site can also promote faith through justice
by providing information, resources and opportunities. For example,
in addition to our section on social justice, you can also find
information about the Jesuit mission and opportunities for to strengthen
and renew your own spirituality.
We are eager to get feedback about our new site. If you have suggestions
or comments, please send them to our director of communications
at kpipkin@mdsj.org. |
